Jackie Robinson Day

Today we celebrate Jackie Robinson, who broke the color barrier in Major League Baseball on this date in 1947. Yankees pitcher Mariano Rivera was the last player who will ever wear the number 42 in Major League Baseball.

Being that it’s Jackie Robinson Day, we thought it would be appropriate to share this project that we framed for one of our sports collecting customers. For those of you who don’t know, on one day each season, every player in Major League Baseball will wear number 42 to honor Jackie Robinson, the first African American to play Major League Baseball.

This customer had a game-worn Nolan Arenado Rockies jersey from the 2014 season. As you can see, we cut mountains, along with Jackie Robinson’s 42 into the matting with a custom name plate. This was definitely a fun project, and we were honored to frame this jersey for our customer.

It’s Opening Day!
